About Carnegie Schools Lower School
At the elementary level it is our goal to offer a high standard academic program focused on building a solid foundation in reading, writing, and arithmetic taught from a Christ-centered perspective.
We as Christian educators are partnering with parents to train up children in the way they should go. That means giving our kids the opportunity to gain physical information and the chance to determine how they should respond to it. The knowledge of God’s objective, fixed, real order is truth, a truth that can only be revealed to them as they develop their own relationship with the Holy Spirit and His promptings. As that truth is acquired by our students through study and experience, their choices will be guided by it. They will be able to determine for themselves who God intends for them to become and the path He has for their lives.
Teachers and staff daily model the love of Christ to their students and prayer remains an integral part of the school community. The core academic program includes Bible as one of the major subjects, and is integrated into all subject matters. Classes pray daily for each other’s needs. In addition, we hold chapel weekly. Chapel always begins with the pledges to the American Flag, Christian Flag, and the Bible. Each service includes a time of worship, led by our student praise team. Bible lessons are shared by members of our faculty or leadership, and occasionally special guest speakers from neighboring ministries come to share with our students. Teachers encourage and formerly acknowledge spiritual growth in the lives of their students at the end of each month by presenting “Fruit of the Spirit” awards in chapel. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. - Galatians 5:22-23
As a Christ-centered school, we also actively participate in the various Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) events throughout the school year. These include: Spelling Bee, Math Olympics, Speech Meet, and Science Fair. All of them challenge and stimulate our students to grow intellectually and socially. We are always proud to have 100% student participation in each of these events and we celebrate the exceptional students who go above and beyond to represent our school at the District and Regional events.
